The British Association of Mountain Guides (BMG) is holding an Open Day in North Wales on Saturday 22 May for those who want to find out about guiding as a career
Taking place at the Plas y Brenin National Mountain Centre in North Wales on Saturday 22 May, the BMG open day is aimed at individuals with British and Alpine climbing and mountaineering experience that are keen to find out about guiding as a career.
Formed in 1975, the BMG has been running open days since 2006 as a means of promoting the profession of guiding and explaining the BMG training scheme.
This is a great opportunity to meet the BMG Training officer and guides involved in the training scheme and also to get to know BMG guides who can assist you on your road to becoming an IFMGA guide.
Whilst very rewarding, the life of a mountain guide can be very demanding and the BMG is keen to attract the right calibre of climbers and mountaineers from the outset. The pre-requirements for joining the BMG training scheme are extensive however part of the open day will focus on helping participants achieve these objectives.
For more information about entry requirements, the 2010 open day or to download an application form visit www.bmg.org.uk. Application forms for the 2010 open day must be submitted by 1 May.
