Slope Safety

The International Ski Federation ( ISF ) have set up some rules for the correct conduct of skiers and snowboarders, the purpose being to avoid ( Where ever possible ) accidents on the piste.

Summary of Rules

* Respect for Others - ensure behaviour does not endanger others

* Control of Speed and Behaviour - adapt speed and manner of skiing/snowboarding to personal ability and slope conditions

* Choice of Route - select route that does not endanger skiers/snowboarders ahead

* Overtaking - ensure plenty of space when overtaking others

* Entering, Starting and Moving Upwards - check all directions before moving

* Stopping on the Piste - avoid stopping where visibility is restricted

* Walking up or Downhill - keep to the side of the piste

* Respect for Signs and Markings - as they have been put in place for your safety

* Assistance - at an accident every skier or snowboarder is duty bound to assist

* Identification - anyone at the scene must identify themselves to Piste Control and others involved in the accident
