The cross channel train operator has linked up with Swiss high speed rail firm Lyria to provide return fares between London and Switzerland from under £100.
The first leg of the journey is via Eurostar to Paris, and then upon arrival in the French capital there is a short transfer to either Gare de Lyon (by RER) or Gare de l’Est (by tube or walking) for your connecting train. Eurostar are citing fast journey times of 6h10 to Geneva, 6h50 to Lausanne and 7h20 to Zurich, all of which are within easy reach of nearby ski resorts, but you would have to organise onward train travel, use a transfer company or organise car hire to make the connection.
Simon Montague, Eurostar’s Director of Communications, commented, “We are always looking at ways to facilitate greener travel throughout Europe on high-speed trains. It is great news that our passengers can now book their tickets to Switzerland with the convenience and good value of connecting fares. We will continue to explore the various opportunities that will allow us to extend our range of destinations in the future”.
Alternatively, Rail Europe can help you find and book rail connections that take you all the way to resort, although this could still require another change of train.
