The Scottish ski resort received over 38cm of fresh snow overnight providing great conditions for snowsports on Cairngorm Mountain.
According to the resort’s website, there are “awesome conditions all over the mountain” following 15-18 inches of snow on Tuesday night. The resort, which welcomed 1,200 skiers and snowboarders on Tuesday 22 December, is currently operating the Funicular Railway, Car Park T-bar, Ciore Cas T-bar and M1 Poma and is offering “brilliant” riding on 15 pistes including the White Lady run.
Some terrain is only suitable for advanced skiers but the beginner’s area in the top bowls is said to be in “superb condition”. Operations in the resort are weather dependant so check the lift and run status at the resort's website or read our Cairngorm snow report for the latest conditions.
Elsewhere in Scotland The Lecht reported fresh snow on all runs overnight and the Nevis Range has “powder snow all over the mountain”. Both resorts are offering snowsports on Wednesday 23 December. Glencoe has yet to open for snowsports but, according to ski-scotland, plans to open over the festive period. Glenshee is operating three poma lifts on 23 December after heavy overnight snow blanketed the ski area.
"There has been a fantastic early start to the Scottish ski season this winter – in fact, it’s the best since 1999!" said Chair of ski-scotland Heather Negus. "CairnGorm has already been operating for a few weeks, and this is the first time since 2003 that Nevis Range has opened for snowsports before Christmas. The forecast is also really promising for the holiday period."
