A previously dormant subsidiary company, Team GB Ltd, will act as Great Britain’s National Governing Body for skiing and snowboarding during the Winter Olympic Games
Following the announcement that the British Ski and Snowboard Federation, trading as Snowsport GB, has gone into administration, the British Olympic Association (BOA) has confirmed that it will mobilise a subsidiary company to head up British skiing and snowboarding for the duration of the Vancouver games.
In a a statement from the BOA on Friday 5 February it was revealed that Team GB Ltd trading under the name of BSS (British Ski and Snowboarding), will "ensure that FIS registration and FIS race entries continue for all accredited athletes without undue disruption".
After the games, skiers, snowboarders and other interested parties will then come together to decide how the BSS functions once it "has fulfilled its role in bridging the gap for the sport in this perilous time".
"It's been a difficult time for a lot of snowsport athletes" commented snowboard cross medal hopeful Zoe Gillings. "I'm very hopeful that this will be a very positive step forward for skiers and snowboarders alike. With the Olympic Winter Games just around the corner, this is welcome good news".
