Local media are reporting that Pierre et Vacances will be developing and extending the ski resort.
According to morznet.com, the commune of Morzine-Avoriaz and Pierre et Vacances have signed an agreement to develop the resort. .
There will be a new welcome building, improved road and transport access into the existing resort and links to the new areas, as well as improving communal services such as refuse collection and recycling.
Pierre et Vacances will build a total of 475 three and four star standard apartments across the Crozats and Falaise areas, and the company is also due to build Aquariaz, a 2000sq metre water centre with slides, flumes, a river and relaxation pools in a ‘Center Parcs style’.
The developments will follow the well known Avoriaz style, with vertical balconies, cedar wood and stone cladding and the distinctive stepped-roof style. It has not yet been confirmed when building work will start, but is being considered a positive sign that development work is still able to go ahead despite the economic downturn.
